UFC Veteran Felipe Colares Passes Away at 29 After Tragic Accident in Brazil

Tragic news hit the MMA world today as it was announced that UFC veteran Felipe Colares has passed away at the young age of 29. The Brazilian fighter was struck by a bus earlier this morning after a training session in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, according to reports by Combate.

Colares, who held the Jungle Fight 145-pound Featherweight title in 2017, earned himself a spot on the UFC’s roster after his impressive performance. He made his debut in 2019 and fought a total of six times for the promotion, securing victories against Luke Sanders and Domingo Pilarte.

Despite his impressive start in the UFC, Colares suffered a two-fight skid, losing to tough opponents Chris Guttierez and Chase Hooper. The losses resulted in the end of his UFC run in mid-2022. Colares was 2-4 in the promotion.

Following his release from the UFC, Colares fought in the Ares Fighting Championship where he snapped his lone-career losing streak, defeating Alioune Nahaye with a first-round rear-naked choke submission in Paris, France in February 2023.

Colares’ coach, Rodrigo Babi, spoke to Combate about the tragic incident and expressed his grief over the loss of his fighter. Colares is survived by his wife, Jaqueline, and their 10-month-old son.

The MMA community is in mourning over the loss of one of its own, and Colares will always be remembered for his dedication and passion for the sport. Rest in peace, Felipe Colares.
