Dustin Poirier Reveals Shocking Prediction for Nate Diaz vs Jake Paul: Why This Battle Could Shatter Expectations!

When it comes to the seasoned warriors of the UFC, Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz boast a saga intertwined with relentless rivalry and untapped potential. The two combat-tested veterans have been in each other’s crosshairs for years, with a proposed face-off at UFC 230 in 2018 that ultimately fell through due to a Poirier injury.

In the wake of this missed opportunity, Poirier and Diaz engaged in frequent online skirmishes and calls-outs, though an official matchup to quell their feud never materialized. Diaz ultimately exited the UFC in 2022 to explore new horizons, leaving this fierce rivalry unresolved.

Diaz is now gearing up for a high-stakes boxing bout against Jake Paul, the YouTube sensation turned professional boxer, slated for August 5 in Dallas. Despite their past rivalry, Poirier expressed goodwill towards Diaz’s venture beyond the UFC. In a recent MMA Hour episode, Poirier stated, “Look, I want everybody to be paid and to succeed…So I hope he got whatever he was looking for. I hope it all works out. I hope he gets paid.”

Before his departure, Poirier passionately advocated to be Diaz’s last opponent in the UFC when Diaz expressed intentions to fight out his UFC contract. However, the honor went to Tony Ferguson, whom Diaz managed to defeat through submission before stepping into free agency.

As Diaz’s professional boxing debut approaches, Poirier is definitely interested in witnessing the outcome of Diaz vs. Paul, despite admitting his Diaz fight probably won’t come around again. Diaz’s match falls exactly a week after Poirier’s own rematch with Justin Gaethje at UFC 291. Poirier shared his plans to potentially drive from his Louisiana home to the American Airlines Center in Dallas to witness the action live.

Poirier also didn’t hold back on his prediction for the fight, favouring the younger, bigger, and faster Jake Paul for the win. He stated, “Man, Jake’s younger, bigger, faster — it’s not an easy fight…And I think Diaz’s boxing is good for MMA — it’s a completely different thing.”

Despite the complexities of the situation, Poirier expressed his support for Diaz and shared his excitement for the upcoming clash between the grizzled MMA veteran and the YouTube boxing sensation. One thing is clear: both Poirier’s July 29 rematch against Gaethje and Diaz’s boxing match against Paul are must-see events for fight fans.
