Sonnen Charged with Disturbing the Peace
Former UFC title challenger, Chael Sonnen, pleaded “no contest” to a misdemeanor charge for breaching the peace earlier this week, as per the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Notably absent from the proceedings, Sonnen was subsequently ordered to pay a $750 fine.
Allegations Against the Former ESPN Host
The “American Gangster,” now 46 years old, was originally accused of causing harm to multiple people during a purported hotel rampage in Las Vegas at the tail end of 2021. Despite the initial charges being dismissed without prejudice, the prosecution later introduced an amended complaint that encompassed several misdemeanors.
Ongoing Legal Battle for Sonnen
The alleged victims maintain an active civil lawsuit against the former ESPN host, adding an additional layer to this complex case.
Chael Sonnen’s Fight Record and Post-UFC Career
Sporting a fight record of 31 wins and 17 losses, Sonnen has been out of the competitive MMA scene since his technical knockout loss to Lyoto Machida under the Bellator MMA promotion in June 2019. Known for his prowess in Greco-Roman wrestling, he garnered “All American” honors at the University of Oregon. Today, he is the host of his own weekly web show, aptly named “Bad Guy INC.”
